A Brief History of the Association
The Egyptian Society of Anesthesiologists was established in 1984 under No. 3223, affiliated with the West Cairo Department of Social Affairs, in accordance with According to Law No. 32 of 1964, located on Aisha Al-Taymouriya Street, Garden City.
The association was re-registered at a general assembly meeting in 2004 at the Heliopolis Social Affairs District under the name of the Egyptian Society of Anesthesiologists, registration number 5994, dated April 6, 2005, and headquartered at 28 Obour Buildings, Nasr City.
The association’s activities include providing cultural and scientific services to anesthesiologists. The association was established in collaboration with anesthesia professors from various Egyptian universities, the Armed Forces, and the Ministry of Health.
The Society has organized scientific conferences periodically since its inception, in coordination with Egyptian anesthesia professors living in the United States, under the title “The Egyptian-American Conference on Anesthesia.”
The Society participated in the formation of the Arab Association of Anesthesia and Intensive Care Physicians in 1995, along with members from across the Arab world. The Society was represented by: Prof. Dr. Mohamed Hamed Shaker, Prof. Dr. Salah El-Halabi, Prof. Dr. Ezzat Moamen, Prof. Dr. Abdel Razek Youssef, Prof. Dr. Atef Mandour, and Prof. Dr. Yehia Khater.
The Society then became the Arab Association of Egyptian Anesthesia Societies, with Prof. Dr. Salah El-Halabi serving as its president, followed by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Hamed Shaker for two consecutive terms.
The Association’s activities included: 1. Arab Board Certification and its related examinations. 2. Holding Arab Anesthesia Conferences every two years in various Arab countries.
The association’s bylaws were changed so that the board’s appointment was made by election, and Prof. Dr. Yahya Helmy Khater was elected as president.
